Acrylic on canvas
Size: 100 x 100cm (including box tray white frame)
This painting captures the exhilaration of being immersed in the sea, offering the perspective of a surfer riding the waters at Porthmeor Beach, St Ives.
The canvas is dominated by deep, layered blues that sweep across sea and sky, dissolving the boundary between them. The viewpoint is low, almost from within the swell, giving the viewer the sensation of floating inside the water’s restless surface. The brushwork is fluid and dynamic, with sweeping marks suggesting movement beneath the waves.
On the horizon, a dark silhouette of headland rises sharply against the luminous expanse of sky. A streak of light cuts vertically across the painting, as if sea and sky are stitched together by reflection, amplifying the sense of vastness and energy.
The work conveys both the solitude and intensity of the surfing experience — the horizon distant, the sea enveloping, the body small within the elemental force of nature. It is less about literal detail than about sensation: the pulse of the ocean, the rush of water, and the feeling of surrender to the blue.
This painting is beautifully presented in a white tray frame. Both painting and frame are in excellent condition.
